The idea of a Model United Nations in Pelotas arose among International Relations students of the Federal University of Pelotas who had already participated in simulations of this type and wanted to bring this event for the academic community of Pelotas. Thus, since the beginning of 2015, a group of  students has been meeting and projecting the third edition of PelotasMUN, which will take place from October 1st to 4th, 2015, in Pelotas/RS, Brazil.

 

PelotasMUN aims to motivate students to have a critical thinking about current global issues as well as to stimulate them to develop their English skills, once this conference is conducted entirely in English. Furthermore, the project aims to introduce students to the UN mechanism, showing the degree of complexity with which activities are carried out in the organization.
 

In this third edition two UN committees will be simulated: the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). There is also going to be a Press Committee to cover the news of the event.
